Korean Makeup: A Step-by-Step Guide
If you love to stay up to date with the latest makeup trends, you've probably heard of the makeup everyone's been talking about for the last few years: Korean makeup. If not, don't worry. Today I'm going to show you how to do Korean makeup step by step.
Korean makeup, step by step
It's becoming more and more in demand nowadays, thanks to the natural and radiant finish on the skin, the Korean makeup style, and the products used by different brands. You'll notice right away that it's very different from what we're used to in the West, as it doesn't use bold colors that look great on the skin.
If you're going to Seoul and want to blend in perfectly, your makeup should look like this:
Skin and face
According to Korean style, the key to facial makeup is to mimic the skin of Korean women: white, light, even, and with a porcelain doll-like look. This means that choosing the right makeup base for your skin is key to completing your look. The foundation on your skin should be as light and natural as possible to avoid looking like you've applied talcum powder. It's also a good idea to make sure it has enough coverage to achieve the even look you want.
The most commonly used makeup base in the Korean beauty industry is the cushion base. It combines the ease of application of a liquid primer with the convenience of a compact set.
If you don't like applying foundation to your skin, you can also use a BB cream, which has high coverage and a natural finish.
Avoid applying too much eye makeup. In this routine, you don't need to focus on highlighting with color but rather on adding volume and shaping your eyes. The main thing is that your eyes will appear much larger.
To do this, apply a pencil or eyeliner (preferably in neutral or light tones such as beige or gray) to the moving eyelid, never to the waterline. Blend well so that the effect is not too pronounced.
As for your eyelashes, it's best to skip the mascara and curl them with an eyelash curler. If you can't live without mascara (we totally get it), choose a clear or brown mascara.
You can also apply a white eyeshadow or highlighter to your tear duct area as a finishing touch to make your eyes look bigger and add natural beauty.
Eyebrows
Don't apply any product to your eyebrows. They should be well-shaped to accentuate your look. Moreover, you can comb them a little but always keep them natural. Lips
Korean makeup makes the lips look smaller in contrast to the eyes. How? By blurring the edges.
Highlight the makeup by applying a pink or coral color to the inside of the lips, creating the so-called "bitten effect.". Finally, apply a light coat of gloss only to the center area where you applied the color.
Cheekbones
If you want, you can also apply blush, but always apply a small amount very sparingly so that it doesn't stand out too much. The color should also be neutral, like nude, coral, or light earth.
Tony Moly
This is one of the most famous beauty brands. They stock a wide range of Korean beauty products for the best look. The products, especially the lip products, have great packaging. You are divine!
Etude House
Another Korean makeup brand that stands out for the variety and delicacy of its products. Your corporate image and business are full of personality, inviting, and intoxicating. Pink and pastel hues and great attention to detail make you feel like you've stepped into the happy, rosy world of a beauty and skincare store.
Missha
This brand is characterized by bringing Korean cosmetics closer to the general public, as the prices of its products are much cheaper than those of its competitors. Nevertheless, their creations achieve very good results, and the application is simple and convenient.
Skin79
As one of Korea's oldest and most representative beauty brands, Skin79 has been around for over 10 years. This brand has all kinds of products you need for the perfect Korean makeup routine. Their flagship product is undoubtedly the BB cream.
I hope I was able to give you a good introduction to the fascinating world of Korean cosmetics and inspire you to recreate this type of makeup. Everyone loves its simplicity.
